A 2% CHX solution is used for irrigating root canals in endodontic treatments and also neutralizes the effect of EDTA.
Calasept CHX is used for irrigation during endodontic treatment, and alternating the use of EDTA and sodium hypochlorite is recommended. In vitro studies have shown that the chelating effect of EDTA is not limited by the use of sodium hypochlorite. Therefore, irrigation with Calasept CHX solution before filling a canal with resin material is recommended to prevent erosion of canal walls and to reduce the bacterial count due to its bactericidal capacity. Additionally, Calasept CHX allows for easy syringe filling.
INDICATIONS:
- Final irrigation after EDTA and sodium hypochlorite.
- Mechanical removal of debris.
- Rinsing of instruments during root canal treatment.
